ICSE Class 10 Yoga Previous Year Papers: Solved Guide

ICSE Class 10 Yoga Previous Year Papers: what this page gives you

ICSE Class 10 Yoga Previous Year Papers help students practise the way Yoga theory, asana-based questions and viva-style preparation are tested in school and board-style revision. Use these papers after you have studied the syllabus once; the paper shows question style, while the CISCE syllabus and your teacher’s instructions decide what you must prepare.

This page keeps the year-wise Yoga paper entries from the published resource page and adds a teacher-led method for using them: how to download the PDFs, how to revise asanas, how to write benefits and precautions, how to practise viva answers, and how to avoid common mistakes. For official syllabus and regulation changes, cross-check the official CISCE website before final preparation.

Download ICSE Yoga paper PDF resources

The table below preserves the available year-wise entries from the existing Yoga page. Each link opens in a new tab. The code 841 in the file title identifies the Yoga paper code printed in the resource title.

Concept snapshot: paper practice is a mirror, not the syllabus

Think of a Yoga previous year paper as a mirror. It shows whether you can recognise an asana, write the steps in order, explain a benefit, and answer a short theory point under time pressure. But a mirror does not decide what exists in the room. The syllabus and your school’s prescribed teaching plan remain the boundary; the paper only tests how ready you are inside that boundary.

What Yoga 841 papers usually test

Yoga papers need a different revision method from subjects that are only written. You must know the theory, but you must also be able to connect theory with practice: posture names, sequence, breathing, benefits and precautions.

AreaWhat to prepareHow to check yourself
AsanasNames, starting position, steps, final posture, benefits and precautions.Cover the name and identify the asana from the description or diagram cue.
PranayamaMeaning, procedure, breathing pattern, benefits and cases where care is needed.Explain the technique aloud in correct order without rushing.
Yoga theoryBasic terms taught in the syllabus, including yogic values, discipline and selected philosophical ideas.Write short definitions in your own words and include the required Sanskrit term where applicable.
Human body and health connectionSimple effects of yoga practice on posture, breathing, balance, concentration and lifestyle.Avoid medical overclaiming; write safe, syllabus-level benefits.
Practical record and viva practiceNeat record, regular practice notes and short oral answers for each posture or technique.Ask a teacher or peer to question you randomly from the paper list.

Syllabus-specific insight: Yoga is an elective subject where offered by the school. Do not assume that every school follows the same internal practice schedule. Your final checklist should come from the current CISCE syllabus, your school circular and your Yoga teacher’s practical instructions.

How to use ICSE Class 10 Yoga previous year papers

Do not only read the PDF. A Yoga paper becomes useful when you attempt, check, correct and repeat. Use the following method for each paper.

  1. Scan the paper first. Mark questions that ask for asana names, steps, benefits, contraindications, theory definitions and viva-style explanation.
  2. Attempt without notes. Write answers from memory before checking your notebook. This shows what you can actually reproduce.
  3. Check command words. If the question says “name”, give the exact term. If it says “explain”, add the reason or sequence. If it asks for two benefits, write two separate points.
  4. Make a Yoga error log. Divide errors into asana-name error, step-order error, benefit/precaution error, theory-definition error and time-management error.
  5. Practise the same topic orally. For asanas and pranayama, read your answer aloud as if you are facing a viva question.
  6. Revise before the next paper. Solving another PDF without fixing the first error only repeats the same weakness.

Practical application: Keep one sheet for each asana with six lines: name, meaning if taught, starting position, steps, breathing, benefits and precautions. This sheet helps in both written answers and viva practice.

Worked examples for Yoga paper practice

The following examples are original practice examples. They are not copied from any previous paper. They show how to build a clear answer from the kind of skills Yoga papers often test.

Worked example 1: identify an asana from clues

Question: A posture is performed in a standing position. The legs are kept apart, one arm moves towards the foot on the same side, and the other arm is raised upward so that the body forms a triangle-like shape. Identify the asana and write one benefit.

Step 1: Note the body position. The clue says it is a standing posture with legs apart.

Step 2: Note the shape. One hand goes towards the foot and the other arm is raised, forming a triangle-like alignment.

Step 3: Match the clue to the asana name. A triangle-shaped standing posture is Trikonasana.

Step 4: Add one safe benefit. Trikonasana helps improve side stretching and body balance.

Final answer: The asana is Trikonasana. One benefit is that it helps improve flexibility of the sides of the body and supports balance.

Worked example 2: write benefits and precautions clearly

Question: Write two benefits and one precaution for Vrikshasana.

Step 1: Identify the asana. Vrikshasana is a standing balancing posture often called the tree pose.

Step 2: Choose benefits linked to the posture. Since it is a balancing posture, suitable benefits are balance, concentration and strengthening of the legs.

Step 3: Choose a safe precaution. A student with dizziness, poor balance or ankle pain should use support or avoid forcing the posture.

Step 4: Write separate points instead of one long sentence.

Final answer: Two benefits of Vrikshasana are: (1) it helps improve body balance and concentration; (2) it strengthens the legs and supports posture awareness. One precaution is that a student with dizziness, ankle pain or balance difficulty should practise with support and should not force the posture.

Worked example 3: calculate your Yoga practice score

Question: In a teacher-made Yoga practice test, a student scores 31 out of 40 in theory questions and 16 out of 20 in oral/asana practice. Find the total score and percentage. This is only a practice calculation, not an official CISCE marks split.

Step 1: Add marks obtained.

31 + 16 = 47

Step 2: Add total marks.

40 + 20 = 60

Step 3: Use the percentage formula.

\text{Percentage} = \frac{\text{marks obtained}}{\text{total marks}} \times 100

Step 4: Substitute and calculate.

\frac{47}{60} \times 100 = 78.33\%

Final answer: The total score is 47 out of 60, which is approximately 78.3%.

Correction step: If the lost marks are mostly from oral/asana practice, the next revision target should be posture sequence and verbal explanation, not only theory reading.

Examiner’s mindset for ICSE Yoga answers

An examiner or teacher can award credit only for points that are clear on the page or clear in the viva. For an asana answer, the safest structure is: name → starting position → steps → final position → benefits → precaution. If the question asks for two benefits, write two numbered benefits. If it asks for one contraindication or precaution, write one specific safety point instead of a general sentence such as “do carefully”.

In theory answers, use the correct term first and then explain it. For example, if a question asks about a yogic value or discipline, name the term and then give its meaning in one or two plain sentences. In practical or oral preparation, speak slowly and in order; a correct idea can sound weak if the sequence is confused.

Common mistakes students make in ICSE Yoga preparation

  • Mistake: Memorising only the asana name. Correction: Learn the name with steps, breathing, benefits and precautions.
  • Mistake: Writing broad health claims such as “cures all diseases”. Correction: Use safe syllabus-level language such as “helps improve flexibility”, “supports balance” or “aids relaxation”.
  • Mistake: Mixing benefits and contraindications. Correction: Benefits say how the practice helps; precautions say when or how to practise safely.
  • Mistake: Treating an old paper as the current syllabus. Correction: Use old papers for practice, but check the current CISCE syllabus and school instructions.
  • Mistake: Ignoring viva practice. Correction: Answer aloud for each asana: name, steps, benefits and one precaution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I download ICSE Class 10 Yoga previous year papers?

You can use the year-wise download table on this page for ICSE Class 10 Yoga Previous Year Papers. Open each PDF in a new tab, save it by year, and check the official CISCE syllabus before using an old paper for final revision.

Is Yoga compulsory for every ICSE Class 10 student?

Yoga is not compulsory for every ICSE Class 10 student. It is taken only when the school offers it and the student is registered for it, so confirm your subject combination with your school.

How should I revise asanas from a Yoga 841 question paper?

For each asana, revise the name, starting position, main steps, breathing pattern, two benefits, and one precaution. Then practise saying the answer aloud, because Yoga preparation may include practical or viva-style questioning at school.

Can I prepare for ICSE Yoga only from previous year papers?

No. ICSE Yoga paper PDF practice helps with question style, but previous year papers do not replace the current CISCE syllabus or your school-prescribed notes. Finish the syllabus first, then use papers for timed practice and error correction.

What should I do if an old ICSE Yoga paper has a topic my school has not taught?

Check the current syllabus and ask your Yoga teacher before spending time on that topic. Older ICSE Class 10 Yoga Previous Year Papers may reflect the syllabus and paper design of their own year.
