ICSE Class 9 Study PDFs: Syllabus, Books & Notes

This page lists ICSE Class 9 textbook PDFs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics — all 61 chapter files, grouped by subject. Each table below sits under a short note that explains what that subject’s files actually contain, so you know what you’re opening before you download it.

These are the 61 chapter-wise books PDFs hosted on icseboard.org for ICSE Class 9, organised by subject. Each section below explains what those books cover before the download table.

Biology

The two Biology PDFs in this set cover Health Organisations and Waste Generation and Management, part of the environment and health section of the Class 9 syllabus. Use them to revise how public health bodies function and how waste is managed and disposed of. They are not a full Class 9 biology course, so pair them with your school's biology textbook for the rest of the syllabus.

Chemistry

This Chemistry set is built mostly from reference charts: a valency chart, the modern periodic table, important formulas, key definitions and equation-balancing practice sheets. They match syllabus topics on element symbols, valency, radicals and writing balanced chemical equations by the hit-and-trial method. Use them for quick revision rather than as your main chapter-by-chapter textbook.

Mathematics

The Mathematics set covers the early Class 9 syllabus: Rational and Irrational Numbers, Compound Interest (with and without the formula), Expansions, Factorisation and Framing of Formulae. Each chapter PDF includes worked exercises, such as testing whether a fraction is a terminating decimal from its denominator's prime factors. Work through the exercises chapter by chapter rather than skipping ahead.

Physics

The Physics set runs from measurement basics into early mechanics and heat: Measurements and Experimentation, Motion in One Dimension, Laws of Motion, Pressure in Fluids, Upthrust and Archimedes' Principle, and Heat and Energy. The Measurements chapter covers vernier callipers, a micrometer screw gauge and a simple pendulum, and the syllabus notes there are no numerical problems on calliper or gauge zero error. Use these chapters to build the mechanics foundation the rest of Class 9 and 10 physics depends on.

What’s Inside the Class 9 Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths PDFs

The Mathematics set has the most files. It includes Rational and Irrational Numbers, Compound Interest (with and without the formula), Expansions and Factorisation. Each chapter PDF carries worked exercises, such as checking whether a fraction is a terminating decimal by factorising its denominator.

The Physics chapters move from measurement tools into mechanics. You’ll find Measurements and Experimentation (vernier callipers, screw gauge, simple pendulum), Motion in One Dimension, Laws of Motion, Pressure in Fluids, Upthrust and Archimedes’ Principle, and Heat and Energy.

The Chemistry files are mostly quick-reference charts rather than full chapters: a valency chart, the modern periodic table, important formulas, definitions, and equation-balancing practice. The underlying syllabus covers symbols, valency, radicals and balancing chemical equations by the hit-and-trial method, so use these charts alongside your regular chemistry book. For the official wording of any syllabus point, you can check CISCE’s website.

The Biology PDFs here cover two applied topics only: Health Organisations, and Waste Generation and Management. These sit in the environment and health portion of the Class 9 syllabus, not the full biology course.

Using These Class 9 PDFs to Prepare for ICSE Exams

Don’t read a chapter PDF start to finish and call it done. Work through it in a fixed order so nothing gets skipped.

  • Read the syllabus scope line for the chapter first — the Physics and Chemistry files state this directly.
  • Attempt the exercise questions on paper before you check the worked solution.
  • In Maths, redo any question you got wrong the next day, not on the same day.
  • In Chemistry, keep the valency chart and periodic table PDF open next to your notebook when you practise equations.
  • In Physics, write down every formula and unit as you meet it, for example the simple pendulum’s period formula, so you have one list to revise from before the exam.

If you want PDFs for other classes too, start from the ICSE books PDF collection, or browse the ICSE books index to see what’s available class by class.

Mistakes Class 9 Students Make With These Chapters

Some errors show up again and again in these four subjects. The table below names the mistake, the correct rule, and how to check your own work.

MistakeCorrect ruleHow to check
Guessing whether a fraction terminatesA fraction terminates only if the denominator’s prime factors are 2 or 5 (or both)Factorise the denominator before you decide
Skipping the scope note in Physics chaptersThe scope line tells you what’s actually tested, for example no numerical problems on vernier calliper or screw gauge zero errorRead the scope box before you start the chapter, not after
Balancing chemical equations by guessworkBalance using the hit-and-trial method from the syllabus, adjusting one element at a timeCount atoms of every element on both sides once you’re done
Using one Compound Interest formula for every questionSome Class 9 questions expect the without-formula method; check what the question actually asks forLook for the phrase “using the formula” before picking your method

Frequently Asked Questions About the Class 9 Downloads

Are these PDFs identical to my school’s Class 9 textbook?
They follow CISCE-aligned Class 9 material, but exact wording and page numbers vary by publisher and edition. Compare the chapter names with your class notes before relying on a PDF as your only reference.

Why does the Chemistry set look like charts, not chapters?
Most of the Chemistry files here are reference material — valency charts, the periodic table, formula lists and equation practice — meant for quick revision alongside your main chemistry textbook, not as a replacement for it.

Why are there only two Biology PDFs?
This collection currently has files for Health Organisations and Waste Generation and Management only. It does not cover the full Class 9 biology syllabus, so you’ll still need your school textbook for the rest.

Do I need a calculator for the Maths PDFs?
No. The exercises shown, like testing terminating decimals through prime factorisation, are worked by hand. That matches how CISCE expects you to show your steps in the exam.

Where can I find PDFs for other ICSE classes?
Use the ICSE books index or the ICSE books PDF page to find other classes and subjects.
