ICSE Class 9 Unit Tests 2 PDF Downloads & Guide

This page has all 61 chapter-wise PDFs for ICSE Class 9 Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics — useful if you’re revising for ICSE Class 9 Unit Tests 2 at school. Each subject set covers a specific run of Class 9 chapters, not the whole year’s syllabus, so check the chapter list before you download. Read the short note above each table first, so you know exactly what that set of PDFs covers.

These are the 61 chapter-wise books PDFs hosted on icseboard.org for ICSE Class 9, organised by subject. Each section below explains what those books cover before the download table.

Biology

This Biology set has two chapters: Health Organisations and Waste Generation and Management. Both connect biology to real-world topics — how health bodies function and how waste is generated and managed — rather than lab-based content. Use these PDFs to revise the specific chapters your school has scheduled for Unit Test 2, since this set does not cover the full Class 9 Biology syllabus.

Chemistry

This Chemistry set covers 21 chapters, including the syllabus basics of symbols, valency, radicals and chemical equations, plus additional reference charts for formulas, definitions and the modern periodic table. The charts help with quick revision of valency and formula rules, but you still need to read the main chapter to understand how equations are actually balanced. Use the charts alongside the chapter PDFs, not instead of them.

Mathematics

This Mathematics set has 28 chapters, starting with Rational and Irrational Numbers and moving through Compound Interest, Expansions, Factorisation and Framing of Formula. Chapter 1 covers checking whether a fraction terminates, based on the prime factors of its denominator — a method that comes up again later in this set. Work through the exercise questions in each chapter yourself before checking the solution.

Physics

This Physics set covers 10 chapters, from Measurements and Experimentation through Motion, Laws of Motion, Pressure in Fluids, Upthrust and Archimedes' Principle, and Heat and Energy. The first chapter covers SI units and instruments like the vernier calliper and micrometer screw gauge, along with the simple pendulum experiment. These measurement skills come up again in later numerical problems, so revising Chapter 1 properly helps with the rest of the set.

Why the Right Chapters for Unit Test 2 Depend on Your School

Every ICSE school sets its own unit test schedule. “Unit Test 2” does not mean the same chapters everywhere — one school may test Rational and Irrational Numbers and Compound Interest in Maths, while another school covers different chapters by that point in the term.

Check your school’s test notice or diary first. Then match it against the chapter names listed above each subject table on this page. For the official Class 9 syllabus document, the CISCE website is the source to confirm against.

Editions differ by school too. Your school may use a different publisher’s edition of the same chapter, so use these PDFs to learn the concept and method, not to match your notebook word for word. For a full subject-wise view of Class 9 material, see the ICSE Class 9 resource page.

How to Use These Class 9 PDFs to Revise Before the Test

  1. Match the chapter names in your school’s test notice to the chapters listed above each table.
  2. Download only the chapters you need, instead of the full subject set, to save time.
  3. Read the chapter once, then attempt its exercise questions without checking the solution.
  4. Mark every question you got wrong and re-read only that part of the chapter.
  5. Redo the same exercise questions again a day before the test.

This matters most in Mathematics, where chapters like Rational and Irrational Numbers and Compound Interest are worked-example heavy. You learn the method by solving the questions yourself, not by reading the answer first.

A Practical Chapter Order for Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics

If your school hasn’t given a fixed order, revise in the sequence the textbook builds concepts in. Each subject’s first chapter sets up ideas the later chapters depend on.

SubjectStart withWhy it comes first
MathematicsChapter 1: Rational and Irrational NumbersLater chapters such as Expansions and Factorisation use the same number properties.
PhysicsChapter 1: Measurements and ExperimentationUnits and instruments here — the vernier calliper and micrometer screw gauge — are used again in later numericals.
ChemistrySymbols, valency and radicalsYou need valency to write correct formulae and balance equations in later chapters.
BiologyWhichever chapter your test notice listsThis Biology set covers only Health Organisations and Waste Generation and Management, not the full syllabus.

Common Mistakes Students Make While Revising with These PDFs

  • Skipping the syllabus scope at the start of a chapter. Physics and Chemistry chapters open with what the syllabus expects you to know. Skipping this means missing what can actually be asked.
  • Memorising the answer instead of the rule. Whether a fraction terminates depends on the prime factors of its denominator — only 2s and 5s give a terminating decimal. Memorising one worked answer won’t help with a different fraction in the test.
  • Downloading the whole subject set instead of the tested chapters. With 28 Maths chapters and 21 Chemistry chapters in this collection, grabbing everything at once makes it harder to find what you actually need before a short test.
  • Treating reference charts as a substitute for the chapter. The Chemistry set includes charts for valency and formulas — useful for a quick check, but they don’t explain how an equation is balanced.

Frequently Asked Questions About These Class 9 Unit Test PDFs

Do these PDFs match my school’s Unit Test 2 syllabus exactly?
Not necessarily. Unit test syllabus varies by school. Check your school’s test notice, then pick the matching chapters from the subject sets above.

Are these PDFs the official CISCE syllabus document?
No. These are CISCE-aligned textbook chapters, not a CISCE publication. For the official syllabus, check the CISCE website directly.

Which subject has the most chapters in this collection?
Mathematics, with 28 chapters, followed by Chemistry with 21. Biology and Physics have smaller sets here.

Can I use these if my school follows a different textbook edition?
Yes, for the concept and method. Page numbers and question numbering may not match your school’s edition exactly.

Where can I find PDFs for other ICSE classes or subjects?
See the ICSE books PDF downloads page or browse the ICSE books index.
